Important day for NIBIO – Apelsvoll

NIBIO Apelsvoll on 23/09/2025 hosted a full-day Technology and Field Day, bringing together farmers, advisors, researchers, and companies to explore new solutions for sustainable and efficient farming. The program combined presentations in the morning with outdoor demonstrations and exhibitions in the afternoon.

The presentations highlighted several important topics. Climate change and its impact on Norwegian agriculture were discussed, with a focus on the opportunities that arise from adapting practices to new conditions. The value of soil mapping was emphasized as a tool for better resource use and informed decision-making. Other topics included how plant residues can influence soil health, practical experiences in crop establishment, the importance of reliable data for effective harvest planning, and regional environmental requirements that shape farming practices.

In the afternoon, participants moved outdoors to see technology in practice. Demonstrations showed how winter grain can be sown using strip-till methods, while drone seeding illustrated new opportunities for crop establishment from the air. A machine exhibition and company stand allowed participants to interact with the latest agricultural equipment and services.

The event was not only about technology but also about collaboration and knowledge exchange. Farmers and companies had the chance to engage directly with research-based solutions, creating stronger links between science and practice.

The Technology and Field Day at Apelsvoll highlighted how innovation and cooperation can support Norwegian farmers in facing future challenges, making agriculture more efficient, climate-smart, and sustainable.

From science to soil: shaping the future of Norwegian farming.

Apelsvoll 2025 made clear that the future of Norwegian farming lies in bringing together technology, science, and practical experience to build resilient, sustainable systems that benefit both farmers and the environment.
